    Dairy Goats

Purebred Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf Goats

    Registered ADGA

When we first decided to produce the cleanest most nutritous milk for our family, we started researching dairy goat breeds. We quickly decided on Nubians based on the butterfat content of their milk, availablity and appearance. Our first Nubians were a doe kid and her wethered sibling in 2005. It was still quite a while before she was ready to be bred and after weighing the consequences of using a stud, we decided to purchase our first buck kid. Soon after, our doe kidded and we purchased a Nigerian Dwarf doe in milk as a companion for our Nubian in milk and purchased an unrelated Nigerian buck kid at the same time. We are very pleased with both of the breeds that we have chosen as they are both very different.

Our breeding program focuses primarily on milk production as well as show conformation and natural health. We do not breed for flashy colors, blue eyes or polledness. None of our Nigerians are polled or have polled ancestry. There is also no ancestry of blue eyes in our Nigerians. Not that they wouldn't be attractive, but we feel when you selectively breed for one specific cosmetic trait, you never know what other traits you are sacrificing. We have been planning for a few years to start DHIR and Linear Appraisal, however each year something has prevented us thus far. Please feel free to ask any questions regarding our herd or individual perfomance.
