    Pastured Poultry

    Pastured Chickens

Our broiler chickens are raised in our brooder for the first 3 weeks of their life. The remaining 5-6 weeks they are raised outside in floorless 10'X12'X2' high mobile pens. Each day they are moved to fresh pasture where they enjoy grazing in the fresh air and sunshine. This also allows them to exercise daily while not being exposed to the prior days manure. While on pasture, in addition to their fresh green forage, they are fed all the grain mix they want.

    Pastured Turkeys

Turkeys start out in our brooder for the first 3-4 weeks to allow them to develop weather hardiness. The remainder of their life they are raised in the same style pen the pastured chickens are raised in. Each day the pens are moved to fresh pasture to allow maximum ingestion of natural forage. We offer a limited number of turkeys only available at Thanksgiving for those interested in a Holiday turkey.

    Pastured Eggs

We maintain a small flock of layers for our house and any additional eggs are available for sale to purchasers of our pastured poultry. Our layers are managed under the same system as our broilers during the Summer months and in Winter they are in a permanent house. They are also fed a layer grain mix year round. The fresh forage, insects and sunlight create the healthiest and most flavorful eggs available. Eggs are $4/dozen.

    Purchasing Pastured Chickens and Turkeys

We process your chickens and turkeys on our farm. On the processing date that you choose, you will come to our farm between 1:00 and 5:00 to pick up your poultry. Your birds are processed the morning that you are scheduled to pickup. You will need to bring cooler(s) and ice for transport. They are sold as whole birds only. Our broilers average around 4 - 4 1/2 pounds each. Some will be smaller and some will be larger. On your chosen processing day the birds are available first come first served. To aid us in determining how many broilers and turkeys to raise each month, you specify on your order form located at the bottom of this page your desired purchase number. We process once per month and will provide several pickup dates for you to choose from.

Your birds on pickup day will be in an ice-water bath and you choose your bird(s) out of the tank for weighing. You will also need to bring freezers bags if you are going to bag them prior to placing them in your coolers. If you forget them, we will have some available for sale that we purchase in large lots.

We accept payment by cash on pickup day.
