Tin Roof Farm
Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf Dairy Goats
Irish Dexter Cattle
Tin Roof Farm is located in Hanover County, Virginia, approximately 30 minutes from Richmond, Virginia. We raise ADGA registered purebred Nubian and Nigerian Dwarf goats. We originally purchased a Nubian doeling and wether in 2005 to provide milk for our family. A couple of years after our first Nubians, we acquired our first Nigerian Dwarf. Both breeds are uniquely different in appearance and personality. The Nigerians are small enough for our young children to handle while still providing a surprising amount of milk and retaining the dairy characteristics. We feel it is important to teach our children about food production and responsibility. We also raise our own eggs, chickens, turkeys, beef, produce and herbs.
In 2011 we added our first livestock guardian dog to our farm. With growing coyote populations we were growing more concerned for our goats and young kids. The main problem in our current area is neighbor dogs allowed to run loose. Through researching all of the purebred livestock guardian dog breeds available in the US we chose the Kangal Dog to guard our stock.
